Exercise is one of the building blocks of a well lived healthy life. It’s something that is drummed into our heads on a daily basis, so much so that it can become so much background noise, but it is important to remember that it is treated like that for a reason.

Most of us have little or no free time for it. That’s what we tell ourselves. No matter how untrue it is. Have a favorite show? You can watch it another time (DVR it or catch it on Netflix or Hulu) and exercise instead. Exercise is fun and makes you a stronger and healthier person. You do want to be a strong and healthy, right? Thought so. If that show is that important though, you can always exercise and watch at the same if you have good multitasking skills. Maybe you have the time but you’re tired. Your job leaves you spent. You have nothing in the tank after work. Well let me tell you, that excuse doesn’t work either. Exercise actually gives you more energy to get through your day. If you were exercising every day, you would have more energy. Really!

Maybe you think that exercise is boring. As someone who used this excuse before I started working out myself in my thirties, I can tell you that is just not true. Do you have a favorite thing you like to do or watch? There is usually a way to incorporate it in some fashion into an exercise regimen, if you put your mind to it. Even if you have existing injuries, there are ways around them to get the exercise you need. Aqua therapy and water based exercises are great ways to get moving and exercising for those of us who have back or joint problems. Check the Spectrum rehabilitation gym for wellness and see all the programs available for people who want to get or stay in shape to heal.

I can think of only one reason to not exercise right now, and it is the best one. You’ve already finished.
